Eddington (North West Cambridge Development) is a brand new district located 2km northwest of the city centre of Cambridge.

Employees new to the University and relocating to Cambridge on a centrally funded appointment of two years or more have access to a Scheme for the Reimbursement of Relocation Expenses.

We have three nurseries and a holiday play scheme to help support those with childcare responsibilities and we offer various types of family-friendly leave to aid employees' work-life balance. In addition, our staff have generous annual leave entitlement and we operate a number of initiatives to promote health and well-being.

A welcoming and inclusive environment

We help new employees settle in through central University induction events and local induction activities. We also provide a range of essential information through our online learning packages. These cover various topics, including induction, equality, diversity and inclusion opportunities and health and safety.

Additional support is offered to those new to Cambridge in the form of the Newcomers and Visiting Scholars Group. It helps newly arrived wives, husbands, partners and families of Visiting Scholars and Senior Members of the University to settle down in Cambridge and gives them an opportunity to meet local people.

We welcome and support individuals from under-represented groups and have various staff networks which help us to progress equality; these include the Women's Staff Network, the Disabled Staff Network, the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Staff Network and the LGBT+ Network. We also hold a wide-range of Equality and Diversity events on a regular basis.

The University currently has a silver Athena Swan award and a bronze Race Equality Charter (REC) award, which demonstrates our commitment to promoting gender and race equality and addressing challenges in these areas at the University.
