Event Catering Assistant


*The Role:

The role-holder works hands-on part of the team ensuring that both the service is efficient and effective.

Providing hospitality services to a range of customers including public, students, staff and visitors.

The role-holder is responsible for the ordering consumable and non-consumable products for individual events.

The role-holder contributes to the customer services training of all temporary staff.

The Role Holders will contribute to the food and beverage service as part of the University Catering Service's Event Team

The Catering Service holds over 1,000 events a year, ranging from working lunches for small groups to large garden parties, and many of the University's most important ceremonial events.

The role-holders will participate in the food service operation for events up to 200 people. The role-holders will support in the service from collection of the food and drink, delivery to site, until the end of the event and be responsible for supervising temporary waiting staff. On average the University holds between 10 to 15 events per week with an average attendance of 50 people with 3 Catering Assistants to supervise.

About you:

In order to succeed in this role, you will join us with you will have:

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Hospitality Operations Food Hygiene certificate at level 2 / Basic level BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders. Full driving licence. Have substantial experience in hospitality catering obtained in a high volume catering operation.
Experience of training staff Experience of dealing with customers
