Research Assistant/Associate: AP4L: Adaptive PETs to Protect & emPower People during Life Transitions (Part Time, Fixed Term)

A part-time Research Assistant/Associate position is available in the Department of Computer Science and Technology to work on the EPSRC-funded Adaptive PETs to Protect & emPower People during Life Transitions (AP4L) project, reporting to Professor Alice Hutchings. The post is available at 80% full time equivalent. We are looking for a researcher with experience in threat analysis, quantitative data analysis, cryptography, as well as excellent programming and technical writing skills. Expertise in cybercrime, technology-facilitated domestic abuse and privacy enhancing technologies (PETs) research is desirable. Good knowledge of English and communication skills are essential. To be appointed at the Research Associate level candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant science subject area or have significant relevant experience. Those who have submitted their PhD but have not yet been awarded will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD is received. Suitably experienced candidates with an MSc in a relevant science subject area will be considered for appointment on the Research Assistant scale.

The position includes membership of the USS pension scheme, paid teaching opportunities, and the potential to undertake private consulting work.

We expect to notify those shortlisted for interview late November 2024 and conduct interviews shortly thereafter. The expectation is that the successful candidate will start work on or shortly after 1 January 2025.
