Food and Beverage Manager


Madingley Hall and its gardens is a magnificent location, owned by the University of Cambridge. It is a Grade I listed building, first constructed in 1543, situated in the village of Madingley which is around four miles to the west of the City of Cambridge, close to the intersections of the M11, A14 and A428.

The Hall operates on a commercial basis as a training centre, conference and events venue (including weddings and other celebratory and corporate events) and a full-service hotel.

Madingley Hall has a 24-hour reception service, 13 meeting rooms, 62 ensuite bedrooms, a professional kitchen, licensed bar, coffee shop, Lodge House available as rentable short-stay accommodation and is set in 8-acres of grounds including superb Capability Brown designed gardens. The site incorporates a large car park. The Hall also acts as the headquarters of the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education, providing its office accommodation as well as its primary teaching space.

The role
We are seeking to appoint a positive, friendly and enthusiastic Food & Beverage Manager to join a busy, award- winning team. Responsible for managing the co-ordination and the continued development of the food and drink elements of the business. The role holder will require flexibility, excellent customer service skills and a desire and enthusiasm to work hard within this diverse and challenging business. The role-holder is key in supporting the Deputy General Manager, Head Chef and the Business Development Manager; the role-holder will be involved in the organisation and planning of the business throughout the year to ensure the ongoing development of the conference, event and internal business.

The successful candidate will display excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently while in a pressurised environment providing excellent levels of customer care and attention. This is a full-time position, 36.5 hours per week, working Monday to Sunday on a rota basis (including evenings, weekends and Public Holidays).
