A Research Assistant/Research Associate position is available immediately to work on electronic devices based on two dimensional semiconductors. The project, which is funded by the ERC Adv Grant, will involve synthesis, characterise and fabricate devices based on two-dimensional materials.

Applicants must have substantial experience in device fabrication and measurements. While experience with 2D materials is desirable, we also encourage candidates with a proven research track record in other semiconductor materials to apply, particularly those with expertise in devices such as tunnel FETs, ferroelectric FETs, MESO logic, or power electronics.

The candidate will be expected to have experience of two or more of the following characterisation techniques: scanning probe microscopy, low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy, transport measurements, C-V measurements, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy.

Overall responsibilities will include managing research activities, generating high quality data and developing scientific techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute intellectually to the direction of the research on low power electronics within the project. It is expected that they will present their data locally at lab meetings and seminars, and more widely at international scientific conferences. They will be expected to draft scientific manuscripts and to contribute to day-to-day supervision of Masters or PhD students.

The successful applicant will hold a PhD, or be near completion of a PhD, in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related area.
